Chilean financial daily, February 11th, according to statistics from the Chilean footwear products industry association (FEDECCAL), Chile imported 67 million 860 thousand pairs of shoes in 2008, an increase of 5.93% over the same period last year, with an import volume of $497 million, an increase of 19.73% over the same period last year. 80% of Chilean imported footwear comes from China, and the average price of imported shoes from China increased by 12.6% over the previous year in 2008. In 2008, the main importers of Chilean footwear included: FORUS imports amounted to US $67 million, import volume was 4 million 420 thousand pairs; BATA imports amounted to US $52 million, import volume 5 million 850 thousand pairs; Chile NIKE, imports 34 million US dollars, imports 2 million 420 thousand pairs.
