Columbia

In April 30, 2008, the Ministry of trade and industry of Columbia issued a decree to implement 4 months' temporary import quota license management measures for Chinese footwear products under the 26 tariff rules. As at August 31, 2008, the total amount of quotas set is based on 4 times the average import value of imports in 2006 and 2007, and on this basis, it will float 11.1%.

The government of Columbia will initiate a survey of general safeguards in the course of implementation of the measures. The decree will take effect 15 days after the date of promulgation. The measures stipulated by the decree will not affect the actual shipment of the same products that have been exported to Columbia, and are in the bonded area before the date of its entry into force.

According to our customs statistics, in 2007, China's export related products to Columbia amounted to about US $51 million.
