According to Reuters reported on May 14th, the world's biggest sportswear and sportswear manufacturer, Charlie Denson, President of Nike (NikeInc), said in an interview with a French newspaper that Nike may seek to acquire a Chinese competitor or a Japanese competitor to expand its Asian business and further consolidate its presence in the Asian market. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, published on Wednesday (14) local time, published an exclusive interview with Charlie - Dan Sen.

In the interview, Frankfurt reporter asked Danson whether Nike plans to acquire an Asian brand, such as China's Lining.

"In fact, it is possible for Nike to take over a company in China or Japan," he said.

But Danson stressed at the same time: "however, our main focus is to establish and expand Nike brand influence in China.

Then further consolidation of other brands in China, such as CONVERSE (Converse) or Umbro, will follow closely. "

"Nike will" pay close attention to everything that may suit us, "he told the Frankfurt report.

He finally stressed again: "but at present, our most urgent task is to create conditions for Nike brand to grow further."

Danson said recently that although China's manufacturing costs are rising, Nike will not shift its manufacturing base to China. On the contrary, Nike will continue to expand to China's two or three tier cities after major cities.

He said, "in the foreseeable future, we will all be here."

Nike has entered China since 1980. At present, China is Nike's largest supplier and Nike's second largest market in the world, with annual sales revenue of US $1 billion.

In 2007, 35% of Nike's footwear products were produced in China, and 180 of the 700 Nike contract factories in the world.

Brand is an important part of Nike marketing. In 2007, Nike brand accounted for 86% of total revenue.

Danson said Nike will further expand its brand influence with the help of the Beijing Olympic Games and strengthen ties with athletes.

He also stressed that "(Nike) greater opportunities will come from the post Olympic era."

The Reuters also said that the Lining brand was founded by China's famous gymnast, Lining.

At the 1984 Losangeles Olympic Games, Lining won three gold medals alone.
