As of October 21, the cotton harvest progress in Xinjiang was 49.89%, 19.61 percentage points slower than that of the previous year; The sales progress was 25.06%, 42.16 percentage points slower than the same period last year. It is expected that the harvest of new cotton will be finished in mid November.

In that week, the average selling price of Xinjiang seed cotton was 10.79 yuan / kg, slightly lower than that of last week; The price of machine picked flower in North Xinjiang is about 10.0-10.5 yuan / kg, and the price of egg roll cotton is about 10.2-10.7 yuan / kg; The price of machine picked loose flowers in southern Xinjiang is about 10.2-10.7 yuan / kg, and the price of hand picked cotton is about 11.0-11.5 yuan / kg. This year, the cotton picking area in southern Xinjiang has increased. At present, large-scale harvesting is underway in Northern Xinjiang. Cotton pickers cannot be transferred to southern Xinjiang in time, resulting in tension of cotton pickers in southern Xinjiang, which is expected to improve in 25 days.

Since the purchase of new cotton, the purchase price of cotton has been running at a high level, the market risk has accumulated and the progress of acquisition and processing has slowed down. The general office of the people's Government of Xinjiang autonomous region issued the notice on doing a good job in purchasing new cotton in 2021 to deploy the new cotton purchase work, requiring all departments in various regions to pay attention to and solve the outstanding problems existing in the purchase of new cotton, earnestly do a good job in purchasing new cotton, maintain the order of cotton market, and comprehensively improve the quality of cotton. At present, the quality of the purchased cotton is obviously better than that of the same period last year, and the key indicators of new cotton such as color grade, length, breaking strength, micronaire value, length uniformity and other key indicators have been greatly improved compared with the same period last year.
