The second world flax Forum (World Linen Forum) was held in Paris in from February 9th to 10th, the European Union of flax and hemp (European Co). Nfederation of Flax and Hemp (hereinafter referred to as CELC) was organised to explore how to develop international cooperation to promote the natural fiber from flax, Europe. This year, there were more than 200 industry decision makers from 15 countries, mainly from the European Union, including China, Japan and India.

The first forum was a great success in 2018. The new slogan of this forum is "One Fiber, 10 positive impacts (one fiber, 10 positive influences").

CELC chairman Marie-Emmanuelle Belzung said: "today, flax accounts for only 0.4% of global textile fiber, but it has many advantages. We hope to increase this proportion to 1%. This goal can be achieved if all the links in the supply chain are harmonized and long-term agreement on transparent traceability is reached, tracking the market and ensuring market support.

Data show that Europe accounts for 80% of the total output of flax worldwide. This fiber has significant environmental protection characteristics, no need to fertilize, low water consumption, growing in Holland from Europe to northwest France, which is also the main supplier of flax raw materials worldwide. Although 1 of the 14 European Union countries are engaged in linen related industries, the industry relies almost exclusively on the manufacture of yarns and fabrics outside the European Union. Therefore, it is very important to create an exchange platform among different participants in the linen industry.

The second world flax forum will officially receive the ISO standard 320706-1 certification. After more than seven years' efforts, the certification will provide guarantee for fiber products of all brands and avoid any counterfeit risk.

CELC is exploring a platform for bringing together all tools and scientific publications related to flax materials. This forum has released the industry guide Linen Matrix 2019, published by Gherzi, which will provide information guides and common bases for the future of the flax industry.

CELC President Bart Depourcq explained: "the successful cooperation between the parties in the flax economy depends on the definition of common goals and agenda. Only when we unite, can we unite to expand the application of linen in the textile industry. We will achieve this goal through reliable economic data, fiber characteristics and quality driven marketing strategy based on transparent certification. "

The world linen forum also shows a research result of fashion search engine Tagwalk during Fashion Week in Paris, Milan, London and New York. The purpose of this study is to explore the application of flax materials in fashion show.
