Traveling abroad brings gifts to relatives and friends, but Mr. Sun in Laixi is a big worry.

At the end of 2014, Mr. Sun enrolled in a eight day tour of Phuket Island, Bangkok and Pattaya organized by an international travel agency in the island. On the way, under the leadership of the tour leader, he spent 1.7 yuan to buy a lady's crocodile skin bag and another five elephants' leather belts. Unexpectedly, when they returned to the country, they were prohibited by Liuting airport customs.

Seized

"At the time of purchase, the tour leader was not informed of the contraband and is now being seized. I think the travel agency should be responsible."

Mr. Sun said.

On the afternoon of February 4th, the travel agency said that the customers bought the bag made of crocodile skin, not wild, and should not be prohibited.

Mr. Sun said he started traveling with his friends on a plane in December 9, 2014.

On the sixth day of their trip, they came to Thailand. Under the leadership of the tour leader, they came to a shopping mall selling leather goods, belts and various ornaments. There were leather goods of alligator skin and elephant skin, which were not available at home.

"I saw one.

Crocodile skin

The price of the leather bag is equivalent to RMB 17552 yuan.

Mr. Sun said, later he bought this bag, and the shop also gave him five elephant skins.

Belt

"I am very happy to have these articles that I can not buy in China, and I want to give them to anyone after I return home."

Mr. Sun said, but I did not expect that at 10:30 am on December 16, 2014, when their plane arrived at Liuting airport, his suitcase was stopped by the airport customs. After that, the crocodile bag and five elephant leather belts were seized by prohibited goods at the airport customs.

"In the shopping mall, the leader has been strongly recommended for us to buy it, and the leader has never said that it is prohibited and can not bring back the country."

Mr. Sun said that he had travelled to Thailand for the first time and was not aware of the legality of the purchase. He bought these leather goods only when the leader misled him.

He believed that the leader and travel agency should have the obligation to inform, but failed to do so and should take part in the loss.

After that, Mr. Sun first found the Laixi Business Department of the international travel agency, but the sales department said it could not solve the problem.

He then found the Qingdao headquarters of the international travel agency, but the company refused to compensate for it.

In December 23, 2014, Mr. Sun complained the travel agency to the Qingdao Tourism Bureau, and the Qingdao Tourism Bureau also mediate, but the two sides failed to reach an agreement.

In connection with this matter, the reporter contacted the Laixi Business Department of the international travel agency, a staff member said that she knew the matter, but she thought that the parties had complained to the Qingdao Tourism Bureau, which should be handled by the tourist bureau.

In addition, she also said that customers bought a bag made of crocodile skin, not wild, so they should not be prohibited.

"Other customers also bought a lot of leather goods, but only he was seized."

The staff member said.

In the meantime, she also said that they belong to the sales department, only responsible for receiving customers, signing contracts, collecting money, giving attention to matters needing attention, and all other departments are operating at headquarters. Therefore, she suggested that journalists should contact their headquarters.

Subsequently, the reporter contacted the Qingdao headquarters of the travel agency.

A staff member said that the case had been complains to the Qingdao Tourism Bureau and suggested that he take proceedings to court.

"I will continue to pursue this matter, but I also hope that I can take this matter to remind other citizens that when traveling abroad, we must try to understand as much as possible about the relevant knowledge of entry and exit."

Mr. Sun said.

According to the customs officers at Qingdao Liuting Airport, according to the relevant laws and regulations, China has implemented the import and export management of endangered species of wild animals and plants or their products in the catalogue of imports and exports of Wild Fauna and flora catalogues jointly announced by the import and export management office and the General Administration of customs.

Among them, wild animals and their products include both wild origin and artificial domestication or artificial propagation.

The alligator and elephant leather made by the traveller are all the animal products, and the contraband should be controlled accordingly.
