Carbon Fiber Composites For National Defense Industry

High performance

Fiber composites belong to polymers.

fibre

A class of special fibers developed rapidly in the field of polymer materials.

High performance fiber composites are important raw materials for the development of national defense industry, aerospace, new energy and high technology industries. They are also widely used in building, communication, machinery, environmental protection, marine development, sports and leisure, and other national economic areas.

High performance fibers are mainly divided into carbon fiber, aramid fiber, special glass fiber and ultra-high molecular polyethylene fiber. Among them, carbon fiber, aramid fiber and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber are three of the world's top high-performance fibers.

Domestic enterprises will make breakthroughs

After the stone and steel and other metals, carbon fiber is internationally referred to as the "third generation material", because the composite made of carbon fiber has extremely high strength, and ultra light, high temperature and high pressure, widely used in aviation, automobile and national defense fields.

Carbon fiber is made up of more than 90% carbon.

The carbon fiber structure is almost graphite structure, slightly worse than diamond structure, and has high tensile strength. Its strength is about 4 times that of steel, and its density is 1/4 of steel.

Carbon fiber has other excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, stable size and good electrical conductivity.

According to raw materials, carbon fiber can be divided into viscose based carbon fiber, PAN based carbon fiber (PAN based carbon fiber) and Li Qingji carbon fiber. At present, most countries in the world are developing PAN based carbon fibers and pitch based carbon fibers.

Japan is the largest producer of carbon fiber in the world. In 2002, Japan's Dongli (Toray) company's carbon fiber production capacity reached 7300 tons / year, Toho (TohoTenax) had 5600 tons / year production capacity, and MITSUBISHI artificial silk (Rayon) had an annual output of 4700 tons, 3 of which sold the total carbon fiber.

It accounts for about 75% of the global tow market.

Since 2004, the carbon fiber market has suddenly been in short supply, and there has been a situation of supply exceeding demand, and prices have risen sharply.

The background of the expansion of carbon fiber demand includes two aspects: first, more and more civil aircraft manufacturers use carbon fiber as the body material; two, the use of carbon fiber in wind power generation, liquefied gas tanks, bicycles, sporting goods and other fields is gradually expanding.

With the large increase in the demand for carbon fiber in aerospace, sports leisure and industrial applications, the global carbon fiber market is growing rapidly at an average of two digits per year.

Carbon fiber industry

In the next few years, two digit growth can be maintained and supply is less than required.

Despite the slow development of China's carbon fiber production, consumption is increasing day by day, and the market demand is strong, mainly concentrated in sports goods and aerospace. The demand for general industry is growing rapidly.

In recent years, with the increase of market demand, especially the demand for national defense, military industry, aerospace and sports products, the import of carbon fiber from abroad to meet the requirements each year has been achieved. According to statistics, the annual growth rate of domestic carbon fiber consumption exceeds 20% in 1996-2002 years. In 2007, the domestic market demand was about 3500t/a, mainly relying on imports.

At present, carbon fiber has been listed as a new product that is mainly supported by the national industrial fiber industry. Many domestic enterprises have proposed or are building carbon fiber production plants.

In 2006, the PAN based carbon fiber project of Anhui Hua Wan Group was completed and put into operation, filling the gap of PAN based carbon fiber industrial production in China.

We expect that China's carbon fiber industry, which is out of control of foreign raw silk, will usher in a rapid development.
