In the second year of sports, it was called "modern".

The exhibition opened in London La Galleria on the eve of London Fashion Week in early September.

As we all know, tweed is an ancient Scotland fabric.

However, in Scotland dialect, the correct spelling of this woollen fabric should be "twill".

As early as in 1830, a special envoy from London misspelled the word "tweed". A "wrongly written character" was developed in this way. It has a long history and has made Coco Chanel's twill soft coat. It is still widely used in the clothing industry.

The English people love wool best.

In Vivienne Westwood's childhood memory, knitting is a family fun for both young and old.

"I was born after the war. Because of the lack of materials, we had to learn how to knit clothes, from headwear to gloves."

She said, "some people even make their own wedding gowns themselves.

My mother often knits socks and gloves from evening, and can be knitted second days early.

She is the fastest person I've ever seen. "

The man who had woven faster than her mother must have found it in history, because as early as 1807, people had washed the best wool in the world in the stream of the poning mountains in northern England, and the wool carpet of Yorkshire was also famous at that time, not to mention the flannel prevalent in the rural areas of western England.

When the Romans invaded England, they praised the real estate's woolen fabrics as "finely comparable to cobweb".

So three years ago, when Prince Charles (also a famous woollen fabric lover) discovered that the number of sheep raised by British farmers fell from 20 million to 14 million 500 thousand in a short time, he began to feel worried.

Synthetic fiber is robbing the market of clothing, carpets and insulating materials that originally belonged to wool, which led to a sharp decline in the sale of wool and even to make ends meet.

Many farmers began slaughtering sheep and burning wool to consider raising sheep without wool.

They said, "why don't we raise sheep for eating instead of cutting it for them?" after discovering that the same thing happened in New Zealand, Australia and other countries with a long tradition of animal husbandry, Prince Charles decided to do something to save the wool market and make sure that he has clothes to wear in the future.

In 2010, the Campaign for Wool, sponsored by Prince Charles and launched by the Australian wool Bureau, was launched around the world. Farmers, wool retailers, fashion designers and carpet manufacturers from the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand gathered together to revitalize the wool industry.

This year is the second year of this campaign. In addition to the various activities jointly planned by more than 200 companies including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Harrods and other large stores, including Pringle, Jigsaw, and Hackett, a exhibition called "Morton wool (Jigsaw)" was also unveiled in London on the eve of London Fashion Week in early September.

Visitors can see the Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano and other designers, as well as 60 pieces of classic works made by the artists of Angela, Wright, and so on.

An asymmetrical cut dress made of pure blue woollen fabric, decorated with a dazzling gold Rhine stone on one side of the chest and decorated with a gold military uniform button on the other side. The style of Alexander McQueen 2011 early autumn series shows the coloring power of the wool, and the deep and charming Tibetan blue color does not diminish in the golden setting.

A close look at Saint Laurent's famous cocoon wedding dress, which was released in 1965 by the advanced custom series, is amazing about the structural ability of wool given by special stitches.

And Giles Deacon's black and thick wool oval coat, which has a strong sense of humor, has no doubt demonstrated the inexhaustible ability of this material in shaping its size and shape.

Angela Wright's exhibits

"When planning this exhibition, I often remind myself that what I see is made of wool - they are completely beyond imagination."

The curator, Charlotte Lurot, said.

Facts have proved that wool is still the most popular fabric of luxury brands.

In Saville street, Patrick Grant, a man's clothing centenary shop Norton & Sons and E. Tautz, said without hesitation: "we only use wool and all other fabrics will not be considered."

He added: "the trend in recent years is that people began to turn more from cashmere to wool, because the thickness and hardness of wool are more suitable for creating a sense of volume.

I am very excited about this.

Westwood narrated the experience she started in fashion design more than 30 years ago: "a Italy garment factory wanted to cooperate with me at that time, and I said," we must start with this thin sweater.

They have no corresponding production facilities.

The boss of the factory asked me, "why do you want to wear a sweater if you have a thick sweater?" obviously, she could not understand my intention.

The thin sweater is light and comfortable, and it can also be multi-storey.

Westwood husband Andreas Kronthaler also has precious memories to say: "more than 20 years ago, I just came from Austria to England soon. The first gift Vivienne gave me was a colorful wool cardigan.

I've never seen such a sweater before. It's very fashionable.

Later I wore all kinds of clothes, but I always thought that this cardigan was the best of all my sweaters, and it was also the representative of the British style.

I also have a blue gray tweed suit, and I feel like a noble when I put on it.

His wife said, "I think men wearing woolen cardigan are very sexy."

The durability of wool makes it linked to the value of luxury goods.

At the same time, in today's environmental protection, rapid degradation has also become a precious quality.

If you have a chemical fabric that you don't like, you can bury it in the backyard. After 60 years, if you suddenly feel that you still like it, you can dig it out and wash it in the backyard.

On the contrary, without any special treatment, the wool materials can automatically degrade and return to the land.

Of course, you may not want to throw your wool coat into the yard, as Nicholas Coleridge, the famous publisher and CEO of Nash group of Kangtai, said, "if you have several woolen suits, you will want to wear them in a few years.

But if the material of the suit is not wool, it may be washed out for a few seasons.

Woolen clothes can be worn all the time, and perhaps they will become more and more beautiful with time.

They are worth investing and possessing. "

The ranchers are getting better.

Recently, a rancher said to Coleridge, "do you do well in that activity in London? I now sell wool twice as much as I used to!" Stuart McCullough, chairman of the Australian wool Bureau, said that the price of 1 kilograms of wool has risen from US $7 last year to US $14.

He expects that in the next 12 months, the number of sheep will increase by 2%-3%, and the price of wool and purchase will also rise.

Following London, the "modern wool" exhibition will go to Australia, Tokyo, Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid and Oslo, and plans to go to China and the United States are also brewing.

In McCullough's view, the Far East will be a new hope for wool revival.

He believes that since the Chinese and Japanese are willing to pay a big price for Burberry, the same thing will happen to wool.

"My mother once said that if we could sell a pair of woollen socks to every Chinese, many problems would be solved."

He said, "what we need to do now is to let each of them buy a woolen sweater."
