According to the Export Promotion Council, the export volume of clothing industry in the country in the fiscal year 2010 to 2011 amounted to US $17 billion 910 million, which accounted for 78.14% of the total export volume of Bangladesh and 1.02 percentage points higher than the previous fiscal year.


Among them, the export of knitted garments was US $9 billion 490 million.

The export volume of local household textiles and towels was 788 million 760 thousand US dollars and US $120 million respectively.

Vietnam and Mainland China have gradually lost the favor of international buyers because of the high cost price, and buyers' attention has begun to turn to Bangladesh, the industry said.


In addition, Bangladesh is more competitive because of its basic equipment for making garments.

The National Association of textile and garment manufacturers and exporters (BGMEA) said that the export volume of local garments increased last year because of the rising prices of raw materials such as cotton and cotton.
