Modern

China

It is very far away from us, and is very close to us.

Far from it, it is the image of a century ago; in the near future, its end is connected with the end of today, and is very similar in dress culture. Westernization, Mashup and pluralism are common elements.

The revolution of 1911 and the new culture movement opened the prelude to "changing clothes" in modern China. "I, the dress and clothing exhibition of the Republic of China" is being held in the gallery of Shanghai Grand Theatre.

"Human life is very short, but these old clothes are always there."

Said Ms. Jue.

As the sponsor of China's intangible cultural heritage protection fund, and the founder of the Phoenix Pavilion, the founder of the exhibition organizers, Ms. Shi Jue is also the owner of these exhibits. "There are more than 100 kinds of costumes for the Republic of China on display. There are more than 2000 pieces of clothing from Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China."

Speaking of the reasons for collecting these costumes, she told us that these collections were pferred from another collector 3 years ago.

At that time, the collector wanted to change the collection for twenty or thirty years because of some personal reasons, and he put forward 3 requirements for the recipient. One is to treasure these collections, two is to give them a display platform in the future, and three is to hope that there will be cooperation in the future.

After the introduction of a teacher from South University, Shi Jue became the new owner of the collection. "We have established a basic database for these clothes, and hope to publish books two years later.

In order to maintain the systematicness and structure of these costumes, I will protect them well. "

In the period of the Republic of China, there were both "imported style" and "old custom".

The exhibits include clothing, sweater, gown, vest, skirt, robe, cheongsam, long waistcoat and other rural costumes. There are also Thai style, woolen, printed silk, crepe, satin and other city dress styles.

"In this exhibition, I arranged a dowry scene, which was taken from an unmarried old lady.

Sachet, hydrangea, red cover...

From the first line, you can see the mood of a young woman to be married.

In addition, the 30 cheongsam displayed in this exhibition reflects the evolution of cheongsam from the changes in style, fabric and so on.

Ms. Shi said: the embroidery on this collection represents the highest level of manual embroidery on the practical products of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces during the Republic of China.

The purpose of this exhibition is not only to promote the protection of intangible cultural heritage, but also to promote China's national costume culture.
