The International Conference on code number is held in Changshu, China.

The international conference was co sponsored by the National Standardization Management Committee, the Jiangsu provincial quality and Technical Supervision Bureau and the Bosideng Limited by Share Ltd.

16 representatives from five countries, including South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Trinidad and Tobago, attended the meeting.

This is the first international conference of China's apparel industry to participate in ISO/TC133. It is also the first International Conference on garment standardization in China.

ISO/TC133

The full name is "Sizing systems and designations for clothes", that is, the clothing size series and Code Committee. Its responsibility is to design the clothing size system through the size system obtained by human body measurement.

ISO/TC133 has 18 official members (P) and 30 observers (O). The Secretariat of the committee is now in South Africa and its representative body is SABS.

But in the past ten years, the committee's activity is "stand-by (suspended)", so no work items are in progress or will be carried out.

China is a full member of this organization. It has long been concerned about and actively participated in the activities of the organization.

Since the beginning of 2007, under the joint efforts of the National Standardization Management Committee, the China clothing association, the national garment Standardization Technical Committee Secretariat (Shanghai Clothing Research Institute), and Bosideng Limited by Share Ltd and many other garment enterprises, after many times cooperating with the South African Secretariat, the sixth ISO/TC133 clothing size series and code international standard meeting was held in China.

This is an important milestone for China's apparel industry to achieve the "going global" strategy.

Zhang Guangmin, deputy secretary general, heads the Department of international cooperation of the National Standardization Management Committee, director Guo Chenguang, deputy director and spokesperson, Xu Jian, director of the clothing Research Institute of Shanghai, as secretary general, as well as professor Zhang Wenbin from the clothing Institute of Donghua University, director of Shi Qin, Shanghai Institute of clothing research, vice president of Guangzhou Institute of textile products testing, vice president of Guangzhou fiber products testing institute, Guangzhou city fiber products testing institute Johnson, Bosideng Limited by Share Ltd Cao Zonghua manager, Bosideng Limited by Share Ltd Wang Min, China delegation attended the international conference.

Li Yubing, deputy director of the Ministry of international cooperation of the National Standardization Management Committee, attended the meeting. At the same time, she served as a technical official of the ISO technical authority to give specific coordination and guidance to the successful convening of the conference.

The important speech of the Chinese delegation at the conference promoted the restart of the work of the ISO/TC133 Committee, indicating that China's clothing standardization has entered the process of internationalization. China has begun to master the right to speak in the international standardization activities.

ISO/TC133 chairman Lindsay Paterson and Secretary Alexis Trollip reported the work of ISO/TC133 to the general assembly, and discussed ISO/TC133's work plan (Business Plan, referred to as BP).

Representatives of various countries discussed the revision of ISO/TC133 related standards.

The resolutions adopted by this conference include the joint commitment of the ISO/TC133 Secretariat by the South African Standard Bureau and the China National Standardization Management Committee, and by China's responsibility for contacting the European CEN TC248 regional standards organization to negotiate the size standards. In two months, a working committee composed of China and South Africa will be set up to implement BP, establish 16 resolutions, including China's chair, South Korea, Japan and South Africa as members' working group to amend ISO 8559.

The meeting confirmed that China and South Africa will take the form of "Joint Secretariat" to undertake the work of the ISO/TC133 Secretariat and will make amendments to relevant international standards.

This is a historic breakthrough in China's garment industry in the international standardization work, and also a major leap in the development of China's garment industry.

China is a large producer and a large trading country in garment industry. The manufacturing level of the garment industry has entered the world's advanced ranks. It is the largest garment processing center in the world, and has a high dependence on the international garment market.

With China's accession to the world trade organization, the dominant position and role of China's garment industry in the world is becoming more and more prominent.

The successful convening of this conference is an important start of "made in China" into "China's creation". It promotes China to gradually become an international standard maker from the adoption and implementation of international standards, and has the international discourse power, promotes China's international production and trade status, and plays a positive role in promoting the quality and international competitiveness of China's clothing products.
