Anti Dumping Of Leather Shoes

Today, from the Ministry of Commerce, it was learned from the Ministry of commerce that in April 8th the Chinese government formally launched the WTO dispute settlement expert group's trial procedure on China's anti dumping measures against China's leather shoes. The head of the division of law of the Ministry of Commerce said that the EU anti-dumping law had the discriminatory provisions against China, and the EU's anti-dumping investigations and rulings against Chinese leather shoes lacked fairness and pparency, violating WTO related rules and damaging the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

The official stressed that the Chinese government had negotiated with the European Union on many bilateral occasions, and had held consultations with the European Union under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism, but they did not solve China's concerns.

Therefore, China requests the WTO to set up an expert group to hear the case and resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

At the same time, China hopes that the EU can attach importance to China's concerns and resolve disputes in good faith, so as to resume the free trade of leather shoes at an early date.

The official pointed out that the EU has been carrying out trade protection for its footwear industry for 14 years. At present, there is no damage to the EU footwear industry. Extending the anti-dumping measures will not benefit the EU footwear industry, but will only harm the interests of EU consumers.

It is reported that in February 4th this year, the Chinese side filed a request for negotiation under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism against China's anti-dumping measures against China's leather shoes.

In March 31st, China and the EU held consultations, but consultations failed to solve China's concerns.

In April 8th of this year, the Chinese government wrote to the chairman of the WTO dispute settlement body (DSB) through the permanent WTO (WTO) delegation to set up an expert group's request for the case.
