Career Planning Series
One, what is a career?
Career is a process of continuous behaviors and activities related to occupations and related attitudes, values and aspirations in a person's life. It is also a process of changing career and position and realizing the ideal of work in one's life.
To put it simply, a career is a lifetime work experience.
It can be generally considered that our career begins with pre employment vocational learning and training and ends in retirement.
It is self-evident that we choose what profession to do as our work.
First of all, our future clothing, food, housing and other needs, including many young people dream of going abroad to travel, buy a house, buy a car, almost all through our work to meet;
At the same time, modern people spend most of their time in social organizations.
In the decades after graduation and before retirement, we have to deal with our work almost every day. Therefore, whether we are engaged in work, whether we like it or not, whether it is suitable for us, whether we feel that this job is meaningful is equally important to us.
A president once said, "in my opinion, the greatest tragedy in the world is that too many young people have never discovered what they really want to do.
Think of it, it's a sad thing for a man to earn his salary in his work and get nothing else. "
Therefore, we should be cautious when choosing a career.
China's old saying "men are afraid of going wrong, women are afraid to marry wrong Lang", to a certain extent, reflects the importance of occupation for each of us.
Two. Why should we plan our career?
Here I want to share with you a little story, hoping to enlighten us on the importance of career planning.
The target ladder of earthworms
Earthworms are my friends from small to large.
The earthworm is not the original name, because he is black, short and thin, hence his name.
When I was 18 years old, I was wandering around for life, but earthworms went to university and everything was fine.
In the ten years apart, we met almost every two or three years.
Every time I like to ask him the same question: what are your future goals?
The answers are always different.
The following is a record of earthworms' talk about goals:
At the age of 18, high school graduation: I swear to be Li Jiacheng second!
I want to be the richest person in China.
At the age of 20, at the reunion of the Spring Festival old classmates, I want to start my own company and have 20 million of my assets at the age of 30.
At the age of 23, I worked as a technician in a factory, and the second occupation was speculation: I was fighting for leaving this factory because it was too far from working here.
I will try my best to speculate in stocks, and fry them to 50 thousand yuan in three years, which seems to be a little possibility of realization.
When I was 25 years old, I was disappointed in the stock market, and I was so proud of myself that I was ready to get married. I hope I can have 100 thousand yuan a year, and let me marry in the wind.
26 year old, not so impressive wedding ceremony: I want to have a fat boy. I will be a workshop director in the near future.
At the age of 28, the efficiency of the factory is declining. It is precisely when my wife conceived in October: I hope that I will not have my name on this laid-off list.
From the above little story, we can see that earthworms obviously do not have a reasonable plan for their lives. When they first started working as a technician, he did not study the technology carefully. Instead, they went to the stock market and wanted to earn 3 million. Later, they failed to speculate in stocks and then wanted to be workshop directors.
Such an unplanned life is obviously easy to fail.
In fact, if we want to succeed in the future career, we should first establish a realistic career orientation and career goal, and decompose the goal, then design a reasonable career planning plan, and put it into action, through continuous efforts and adjustments, until finally achieve our career development goals, and achieve the greatest success in life.
Reference reading: the universal formula for success
If we want to achieve great success in our career, we should first understand the general rule of success.
Anthony Robbins, a master of success in the United States, once put forward a successful formula: success = explicit goal + detailed plan + immediate action + check + + persist.
From this formula, we can see that if we want to succeed, we should first understand our objectives and detailed plans.
We do the same in our career.
We first choose an industry and work that is most suitable for our development, then determine our goals, and plan our whole career at the same time, and finally put it into action. We often check and correct our goals and plans, and finally persist in the end, so that we can achieve the success of our career.
Three. The importance of career planning for our career success.
Career planning is the process of analyzing and determining the subjective and objective factors that determine the individual career choice, determining the individual's goals and objectives, and making a reasonable planning for his career.
Career planning requires you to take your own "professional interest, personality traits, ability tendency, and professional knowledge, skills and so on" as your own factors, taking into account all kinds of external factors. After considering the overall trade-offs, you can position yourself in a position that can best give full play to your strengths so as to maximize self value.
A person who is consistent in his career goals and life goals is happy. Career planning is essentially a pursuit of the best career.
Edward Banfield, a doctor at Harvard University, has found that those who are successful are often those who have long term ideas.
When they plan their daily, weekly and monthly activities, they will take a long-term view.
They will plan five, ten, or even twenty years of future plans.
They allocate resources or make decisions based on what they expect to be in a few years' time.
The research results have important implications for those who have just stepped into the workplace.
For example, we jointly analyze a case:
At a large job fair in Shenyang, Xiao Hao, a graduate of a famous university, applied for a position as a mechanical engineer to a car company in Zhejiang.
He majored in mechanical engineering. He did well in all his subjects at university. After five or six years of graduation, he was engaged in sales, quality control of products such as medicine, air conditioning, motorcycle and so on. He changed six or seven jobs, but he didn't have any mechanical work experience.
After looking at his situation, the recruiter thought that if he had worked in the mechanical field after graduation, he would be the candidate for the company. But because he had no experience in this field, the company could not hire him.
Xiao He's example shows that many college students are blind to their jobs and bring harm to them.
Because there is no long-term plan, many college students are just changing jobs when they are young. At the age of more than 30, there is no career orientation.
Under such circumstances, there is little way to go on, and to reposition it requires great effort and has to fall into an awkward situation.
Persistent change is the accumulation of life power, which requires a long-term concept of time.
Taking sales as an example, the meaning of your sales career is that in general, you have to be willing to invest more than 35 years to pform into a real sales elite.
This long-term commitment will completely change your attitude towards training, daily work, customers, yourself, community and other work.
Kamihara Kazuhira, the salesperson of Japanese life insurance, did not sell a policy for the first seven months when he first started his business. He had to go hungry every day and sleep in the park in the evening.
Good people generally have long-term plans for themselves and their lives.
The long-term vision of our career is an important requirement for our future career.
Success is a price.
You have to work hard for several years before you can reach the limit of your earning power and make you enjoy the way you want to live.
We must pay the price first, and continue to work hard for several years before we can achieve a truly valuable goal.
No matter which line you want to get ahead, you have to invest five years in preparation.
No matter what line you do, if you want to excel, you must be mentally prepared for at least 35 years.
It will take you a long time to develop enough professional competence to succeed in a competitive market.
Otherwise, if we often change cities and replace the industries we engage in and engage in specific work, then we will probably not be able to use the relevant knowledge, skills, work experience and interpersonal relationships in the circle as we change jobs. Eventually, we may graduate as many years as we mentioned above. We haven't really found a suitable career for ourselves, nor have we really established our unique competitive advantage. We are caught up in an awkward way to get on with our existing work and to relocate and make great efforts.
Four. A successful career starts with setting the right goals.
Foreword: aim is strength, struggle is success.
Studying the success track of some successful people will find that most of them have clear goals before they succeed.
In the year of becoming rich, Napoleon Hill, a successful American scientist, has such a famous saying: the starting point of all achievements is longing.
The higher a man's pursuit of goals, the faster his talents develop.
The whole world makes way for him who is bent on his goal.
Hill believes that all success must be established with a clear goal, and when the pursuit of goals becomes rigid, you will find that all actions will lead you towards this goal.
The goal is strength, and struggle is success.
People who have developed intellectually and made achievements in ancient and modern times all have clear and firm goals.
Benjamin Dis, former British Prime Minister, was originally an unsuccessful writer. None of his publications was impressive.
Later, dislay became involved in politics and was determined to become prime minister of the United Kingdom.
He overcome many obstacles and was elected president of the house of Commons and the chief judge of the high court, until 1868.
