Industrial Cluster: Yangcheng, Shanxi Is Expected To Produce 1.8 Million Jin Of Cocoons This Autumn

In the golden autumn of September, the autumn silkworm production in Yangcheng County, Shanxi Province ushered in a bumper harvest. It is estimated that the autumn silkworm cocoon production will reach 1.8 million jin this year, which will drive the silkworm farmers to increase their income by more than 54 million yuan.

Entering the cocoon acquisition site of Yujiahao Silk Industry Co., Ltd., sericulture farmers are queuing up to sell cocoons. Bags of white cocoons reflect their harvest smiling faces. Li Commune, a silkworm farmer who came to sell cocoons, fed two silkworms this autumn. After on-site cocoon delivery, spot check, weighing and pricing, he soon got the cocoon transaction sheet. Looking at the amount on the transaction sheet, he was very happy.

Sericulture is the traditional industry of Yangcheng County. In this year's autumn silkworm production, in order to encourage sericulture farmers to raise more and better silkworms, the county has increased support for the sericulture industry. From the aspects of shed construction, silkworm eggs distribution, small silkworm rearing together, cocoon acquisition, etc., we have issued incentive and subsidy policies. For every new shed, the silkworm farmers will be subsidized 8000 yuan, for each piece of silkworm eggs, 30 yuan, 150 yuan for each piece of small silkworm rearing, and 1 to 3 yuan for each kilogram of high-quality cocoon production. On this basis, technical guidance has been strengthened, and a technical service team for autumn silkworm production has been established. Technical personnel have been transferred to professional silkworm breeding villages and factories in the county, and face-to-face explanations have been adopted to send specialized silkworm breeding knowledge and technical services such as temperature and humidity regulation, silkworm disease prevention and control, and high-quality mulberry leaf selection to silkworm farmers, laying a solid foundation for autumn silkworm production.

It is reported that a total of 19000 autumn silkworms were planted in Yangcheng County this autumn. It is estimated that the autumn silkworms will produce 1.8 million jin of cocoons, which will increase the income of silkworm farmers by more than 54 million yuan.
