Australia Is A Little At A Loss For China To Stop Ordering Australian Cotton

Australian Cotton

The Australian government has announced the termination of cotton processing in the future. Australia's Agriculture Minister David Lauder said on Thursday that there was no change in Australia's cotton exports. Although the news is not an official announcement, it still worries Australian cotton sellers.

It is understood that China is the largest buyer of Australian cotton, and the annual crop import scale in 2018 / 19 exceeds a $900 million (equivalent to China's RMB 4.3 billion). More importantly, in 2020, Australian cotton will increasingly rely on trade exports to China. By the end of August 2020, Australia had exported 383700 bales of cotton (170 kg per pack) by the end of August, with Chinese buyers taking 91% of the orders, China cotton.com reported on October 15. In addition, combined with the carrying over inventory of 450000 bales last year, Australia is expected to have a backlog of more than 670000 bales of cotton in 2020, waiting for orders from Chinese and other buyers.

The Australian side felt at a loss and a little angry about this. Some Australian politicians felt that this was also the Chinese punishment against Australia. Therefore, some Australian politicians have said that Australia can export cotton to China and then to India. Perhaps these politicians feel that India, as a country with a population of 1 billion, will certainly consume a lot of cotton. However, this view was satirized by netizens as soon as it was exported. Some people suggested that these politicians should do a survey and statistics before speaking and ask whether Indians would like to have it. Needless to say, if the third brother would definitely refuse to accept it: India itself is also a net cotton importer and exporter, and many of India's cotton is exported to China. Why is India still a cotton exporting country, although it has a population of 1 billion?

In fact, it is very simple to think about it carefully. First of all, from the perspective of geographical environment, the vast majority of India's territory and population are in warm climate regions, so the demand for cotton warmth is far less than that of China; in addition, India's per capita GDP is relatively low, and clothing consumption is also low, so it also reduces the requirements of cotton.

We should know that cotton is one of the main crops produced in Australia, and the profit gained by cotton export every year is as high as 2.5 billion US dollars. And Australia's minister of trade has also publicly expressed his concern about this matter, and is actively communicating with us in the hope that this kind of thing can be avoided. Even if they don't want to admit it, they can't deny the importance of China to their export products. As the world's second largest economic power, China can't tolerate their contempt. On the road of development, we have encountered all kinds of difficulties and obstacles, but we have hardly been afraid, and all difficulties can not knock us down.

We also know the great truth that "lagging behind will be beaten", so we have never stopped the pace of moving forward. Even if there is a thorn in front of us, we also need to bravely rush forward. We firmly believe that with the concerted efforts of the whole country, we will have more voice and initiative.
