Nike'S 2 Hour Marathon Plan Leaves Regret

According to the world clothing shoes and hat net, 2 hours, 25 seconds, the finishing line timer is frozen at this time -- in May 6th, thirty-two years old.

Kenya

The athlete Eliud Kipchoge has completed the 42 kilometer course with this result.

Marathon

There were three people in the competition, namely Erud Kipjoge (Eliud Kipchoge), Lelisa Desisa (Lelisa Desisa) and Zersenay Tad Tadese (Zersenay Tadese). Their goal was to break the marathon's 2 hour mark.

Athletes need to reduce the existing marathon world record by 2 hours, 2 minutes and 57 seconds by about 3%, which means that in the entire 42.195 km journey, the time needed for each kilometre is reduced by about 4.3 seconds, almost one kilometer away from the world record.

In running, athletes must keep as much as 5.86 MPM / sec at the same speed, so that there is no unnecessary energy consumption.

The difference from the ordinary marathon is that the competition has limited many conditions, such as the special match venue, Italy F 1 racing Road, the match time, the specially arranged speed strategy, and the new Nike marathon shoes developed by athletes.

Italy local time 5:45 on May 6th morning (11:45 noon Beijing time), the competition began.

Fifteen minutes later, the sky was just beginning to shine. Most marathons were carried out at 9 a.m. or after, but Breaking 2 was earlier than three hours, in order to match the air temperature and humidity in the early morning.

In the first stage of the competition, everything goes according to plan.

In order to achieve the ultimate goal,

All kinds of means are used to maintain the speed of Breaking2, and control the energy loss and supply of athletes. It's like debugging a racing car.

First, during the competition, a Tesla Model S led the runner and the speed runner 6 meters ahead, showing the current distribution speed, the current time consuming and the expected completion time, and the laser guided formation at the rear ground.

"This is very common for road running, but the Breaking2 sports car will give a reminder at every 200 meter, while the other races will be reminded every 1 kilometers or 5 kilometers."

Brett Kirby, a researcher and chief physiologist at Nike sports research laboratory, said.

At the same time, a team of 30 speed assistors assisted three athletes to maintain the speed of Breaking2, and formed a barrier against wind.

The whole "windbreak formation" is like an arrow, behind which is aerodynamic modeling.

Each speed runner will finish 2 laps, and then 3 people will be replaced.

In the middle of the 1/2 track, a supply station was set up. At two o'clock in the morning, scientists prepared a whole row of bottles containing different proportions of sugar, supplements and caffeine for each athlete. Every time they ran around, they handed the supply bottle to the sportsman.

"Some of them are high in sugar, some in different kinds of sugar, or in combination with sugar and caffeine."

Kirby explains.

Because of their different performance, they have different time to get supplies after the match.

28 minutes and 21 seconds, the team ran to 10 kilometers.

This is 5 seconds faster than the scheduled time, and the fastest 10 km time for marathon to date.

Then there are 42 minutes, 34 seconds, 15 kilometers - 56 minutes and 49 seconds, 20 kilometers - 1 hours 25 minutes 20 seconds, 30 kilometers - 1 hours, 1 minutes 37, and 1 kilometers.

Up to 20 kilometers, there was only Kipchoge left to keep pace with Breaking2.

No matter how the athletes perform, the first team's 6 speed runner will not slow down.

Finally, the time passed two hours at the distance of Kipchoge from the finish line about 300 meters.

After three years of preparation, Nike broke the marathon's 2 hour record of the Breaking2 plan to a very close number.

We have previously reported this "match" with many conditions, which is considered to reveal Nike's ambition to establish influence in the marathon field.

At present, the marathon world record remains 2 hours and 2 minutes and 57 seconds, created by the Kenya athlete Dennis Kimetto in the Berlin marathon year of 2014.

This will continue to be an officially recognized world record. For all these reasons, the marathon race held today in the F1 racing road in Monza, Italy, will not be recognized by IAAF.

Nevertheless, Nike proudly described how they "highly optimized" and orchestrated the match, which is like Google letting Deep Mind to beat Li Shishi in public view and global media coverage. In May 6th, it was also a meaningful date. Sixty-three years ago today, Roger Bannister became the first person to run 4 minutes in the 1 mile mile race. After that, he quickly broke more 4 minutes.

According to Nike's idea, Breaking2 should also provide a similar mental stimulation.

"Only 25 seconds."

After the ceremony, Kipchoge said, "people will have to break through 25 seconds."
