The Ministry Of Commerce Investigates The Development Of Footwear Industry In Quanzhou

On from June 28th to 29th, vice minister Jiang Yaoping of the Ministry of Commerce visited Quanzhou to conduct a special investigation on the current situation of the footwear industry.

Since last year, the domestic shoe industry has been faced with double predicaments of rising costs and export setbacks. The overall situation of Jinjiang shoe industry is full of joy and sorrow.

In the first 5 months of this year, the main indicators of the footwear industry in Jinjiang maintained a tenacious growth trend in the predicament. The industrial output value of the footwear industry was 13 billion 277 million yuan, an increase of 20%%; the scale industrial output value was 11 billion 949 million yuan, an increase of 47.6%%; 270 large scale enterprises, an increase of 11 over last year, a value-added tax of 364 million yuan, an increase of 36.75%%, and the footwear industry for the first time surpassed the textile and garment industry, becoming the largest industry.

Jiang Yaoping and his entourage went to the Anta Sports Products Limited and the big Sen clothing Limited company to conduct on-the-spot investigation, to understand in detail the present situation, difficulties and future development ideas of the enterprises.

Yesterday morning, we invited some relevant departments and enterprises in Quanzhou and Jinjiang to hold talks.

Jiang Yaoping said that through the investigation of the development status of footwear industry in Jinjiang, Jinjiang has a good understanding of the "China Shoes Capital", and the footwear industry in Jinjiang still maintains a steady growth trend.

At present, although faced with more severe challenges, the development of some enterprises may be an opportunity. The government, enterprises and trade associations should seriously collect relevant data, study countermeasures, and form joint efforts to solve problems together so as to enable enterprises to develop well and quickly.

First, we must optimize the industrial structure, form industrial clusters through market operation, and produce scale benefits and become bigger and stronger. In particular, we should increase support for the dominant brands with independent intellectual property rights. Two, we must rely on technological progress, and there is no "sunset industry" in the footwear industry. Sports leisure is the "sunrise industry" of the footwear industry, and we must better serve consumers through improving the technological content.

Three, we should continue to expand the market, occupy the international market under the premise of doing well the domestic market, and strive to make the enterprises develop well and quickly under new challenges.
