New Requirements For Testing Physical And Chemical Properties Of Exported Footwear

The reporter learned from the Hangzhou inspection and quarantine bureau that some foreign trade enterprises have recently reflected that foreign businessmen have put forward new physical and chemical test requirements for footwear exported to Europe and the United States.

The Bureau reminded relevant footwear export enterprises that they should strengthen product quality management, raise awareness of safety and environmental protection, pay attention to new requirements of physical and chemical testing, break through technical barriers to foreign countries, and promote the orderly development of footwear exports.

At present, the AQSIQ stipulates that the footwear exported to the European Union shall be banned from the detection of azo dyes. The footwear exported to Italy also needs to increase the amount of nickel, cadmium and pentachlorophenol in the metal accessories.

Recently, some foreign businessmen suggested that the footwear exported to Europe and the United States should be tested for physical and chemical properties. For example, Carrefour put forward the physical performance test requirements. The main items include big bottom folding, big bottom wear resistance, bottom pulling force, and big bottom tear. Chemical performance tests increased formaldehyde, tin compounds, two methyl phthalate, sensitizing dyes, six valent chromium and so on.

It is understood that the physical and chemical properties test of foreign businessmen generally designated overseas testing institutions or their offices in China (SGS, PFI, STR). Unqualified items are still banned from azo dyes.

This will cause China's export footwear production enterprises to increase their cost and increase their business risks, which will not be conducive to the export of footwear.
