The protection and application of water resources is a worldwide problem.

The reporter selected three samples of the World Expo exhibition hall to make a unique exploration on water shortage, flood control and pollution control.

"Fresh water" recycling to create pure water

Singapore's poor freshwater resources, more than 4 million of its daily life and production water, rely mainly on stormwater storage or water intake from Malaysia.

On the electronic screen of the first floor of Singapore Pavilion, they showed their "key" to solve the pain of water shortage -- four policies, including rainwater collection, intake water, fresh water and seawater desalination, to ensure the diversification of water supply.

The most famous source of water in Singapore is "new water". With advanced membrane technology and ultraviolet disinfection, the sewage treated by two levels is further purified, and it is safe and drinkable.

Singapore also creatively developed the deep tunnel sewer system, using gravity to make the sewage flow to the sewage treatment plant automatically, without power or urban space.

The new water plant is built beside the sewage treatment plant, so that water resources can be recycled, and even "a drop of sewage is not wasted."

[drainage]

"Water Plaza" is suitable for collecting water and hydrophilic two.

The city of Rotterdam in Holland is below the sea level. Once the water level rises and the sea water flows backward, the whole city will be destroyed.

How to deal with the water threat, Rotterdam brings the answer to the best practice area of the city.

Nearly 1/4 of the Rotterdam case hall is a low-lying land. This is the secret weapon of Rotterdam's response to rainstorm, the water Plaza.

The water Plaza is composed of several pools with different shapes, sizes and heights.

Peacetime is a public entertainment and leisure square; when the storm comes, it becomes a waterlogging prevention system.

Because rainwater flows to the lower lying water squares, there will be no water on the streets.

All pools are made up of a circular network. When the rainfall is large, it diverts from the big pool to the ditches. When the rainfall is small, the water flows back into the big pool.

Rainwater can not only circulate between pools, but also be extracted and stored as fresh water resources.

"Ditch reconstruction" beautiful bay return

A case of "urban ditch reconstruction" in Izmir, Turkey, shows the return process of a beautiful harbour.

The Gulf of Izmir is the largest natural bay in West Aegean Sea. The life, industry and Agricultural Sewage of about 3000000 people in the city are discharged into the bay through the sewers and streams, causing the surrounding animals and plants and ecosystems to be seriously damaged, and the fish, shrimp and plants are gradually disappearing.

Izmir implemented the great Strait project to rebuild the natural environment of the bay.

In the pparent glass ground of 9.5 meters long and 5.7 meters wide, Izmir's case museum is distributed in Izmir's complete satellite images. The light and small models vividly display the track and site distribution of the great channel project - the more than 4000 km coastline, encircling a complex pipe network.

The sewage flows through the pipeline to the pumping station, and then is discharged to the sewage treatment station. Finally, it becomes clean water and flows to Aegean Sea.
